Sao Paulo is one of the largest cities in the entire world, boasting around 20,000,000 inhabitants. It's so large that there are actually four different missions that a missionary can be sent to. I have a friend in the Sao Paulo South Mission, which is where I'm going, and I have another friend that will be serving in the Sao Paulo North Mission. Also since there are so many missionaries going to Brazil, the LDS church has a MTC, Missionary Training Center, in Sao Paulo. That means that I'm going to get thrown straight into the culture, no transition period to learn the language in Provo. I report to the Sao Paulo MTC or CTM as it's known in Portuguese, on September 14th, 2011 and will be serving a full-time, 2 year mission.
