May 7, 2012

So this week was really up and down on the health scale. I started feeling a little better as far as my stomach goes and then I get a sore throat. It was a pretty big bummer. Today everything feels better though. I do have a runny nose but that might just be because it's colder out now. So some days were really hard to get out and work and then stay out all day, but in the end it all worked out. And we were also blessed to find an awesome family. This family consists of a mom a dad and two boys, 16 and 12. They are so cool. After our first lesson both Elder Perrell and I said that we thought he was going to tell us that they were already members of the church. They have such good questions, and they really respond to ours. Also they actually keep their commitments which is a miracle. They read, pray, and went to church this week. I have high hopes for them and we are working hard to help them. We just passed by their house last night to say hi and see how they were doing and they invited us in for dessert and then we helped to dishes. We're already really good friends with them too.

But in response to your questions: yes I got a blessing, no I did not go to the doctor, and so far Elder Perrell isn't sick anymore than a little cold. I have been taking the vitamin C pills and I do need some more daily vitamins. Strangley enough one thing that really helped my throat was eating bananas. Don't know why but it always feels better after a banana.

So let me tell you an interesting story. Elder Perrell and I went up to the center of Sao Paulo the other day for a doctors appointment for Elder Perrell, and we decided to stop by the mission office since it was on the way back and he had to give them some of the papers and documents from the appointment. When we got there I immediately when looking through the mail and found not one, not two, but THREE packages. WOOOOHOOOOOO. The one that had the pajama packages had been marked with the wrong zone, so it has probably been in the office for a month now.... bummer. But I have it now and it's awesome. I love the PJ pants. I wear them all the time. Also the whole house is enjoying the candy. Thank you very much. Also I got a package from Katie with some candy, some CDs, and a count down clock. Needless to say I was happily surprised. So also in the office was the new Senior couple, Elder Stoutt and Sister Stoutt. They are very nice people. Sister Stoutt even shared a cake that someone had given here. We chatted a little bit and then we had to take off to get home in time for lunch. All in all, the office is great, I don't know how I would feel if I ever got called to serve there. It's very different from normal missionary work. Oh well.

So the new chapel was packed on the first Sunday. Completely full. This week it wasn't quite as full. There were still a bunch of people but not quite as many. I think it does really help with people accepting the invite to church. Everyone is curious about the new building and they feel more comfortable visiting there. We also had a young man from another family we teach come. This family has a father, mother, two daughters and a son. They are a really cool family. They aren't progressing as much as the other family, but we are still visiting them. They are clearly a little well off and live in the rich part of our area. We had cupcakes last time we were there, a wonderful surprise.

So as far as the Skype goes everything is good to go. I will be calling sometime after 7 here or 3 there. Elder Perrell is going to call first. He won't talk for hours I know but you never know how long it might take if the call drops or something. So just be ready on Sunday afternoon. Leave yourself logged in to Skype and I'll call.  Oh and Dad are you really going to get a job in Utah before I get back? I'm going to have to visit Washington if you do that. You can just leave that house up there for me.

And yes Elder Perrell chopped my hair off. He bought clippers to cut his own hair and I figured it was cheaper just to have him do it. I haven't had my hair sooo short in forever. It was kinda nice. I didn't have to worry about it. And now I can let it grow out for like 4 transfers. Great money saver.

Ummmm that's all I can think of to say so far for this week. Então até mais. Tchau tchau.
